Meet Lewa (Lily Elizabeth Watson Allen)
I share my name with a famous British pop star, so I create under my initials—Lewa! It's a simple pseudonym, and it fits perfectly, as I'm already known as Lulu to all my nieces and nephews.
For me, art is all about interpretation. It starts with taking a song, a feeling, or a message, and transforming it into a scene or image. Then, I translate that image into colors, shapes, and strokes, capturing my perception of the world. I strive to express the beauty around me—whether in landscapes, portraits, florals, or whatever else sparks my interest in the moment. Art isn't about controversy for me; it’s about sharing the wonder I see in the world and bringing that beauty into people’s homes.
Growing up, I never saw myself as an artist—even though I always wanted to be one. As the youngest of four, I admired the creative work of my older siblings, especially my oldest brother, whose artistic talent I could never quite emulate. But over time, I realized that I didn’t need to follow in anyone else’s footsteps. I could create in my own way—and that was enough.
Art, for me, isn’t about perfection or fitting a mold. It's about expressing identity and sharing the journey the Lord has set me on. I create because it’s a vital part of who I am—an ongoing exploration of the beauty and meaning I encounter in life. Through my work, I hope to inspire others to see the world through a similar lens of wonder and possibility.
